One person, three threads.

Meet Owen. He's got three life areas he named himself — none of them handed to him by a template. Here's the full chain for each: a vision anchored to a year, cut down to a yearly goal, a monthly goal, a weekly goal, and today's action.

Owen Marsh, 41. Runs trails on weekday mornings, builds furniture in his garage on weekends, and has two kids he'd like to actually see this year. His three life areas: Running, Woodshop, and Family.

Running

Vision — 2029

Finish a 50-mile trail ultra without walking any of the climbs. Set the year he turns 44 — deliberately not "someday."

Yearly — 2026

Finish a 50-kilometer trail race and hold weekly mileage above 30 miles by December. The distance and mileage a 50-mile finish will eventually require.

Monthly — July

Run four back-to-back long days to build climbing endurance. This month's piece of "hold 30+ miles a week."

Weekly — Jul 13–19

One 12-mile trail run with at least 2,000 feet of climbing. One of this month's four long days.

Today — Wed

40-minute easy run before work, to keep the legs fresh for Saturday's long day. One tap in the circle tracker.

Woodshop

Vision — 2028

Woodshop covers its own tool and material costs from commissioned pieces. Not "quit his job" — a specific, checkable line.

Yearly — 2026

Sell three commissioned pieces and build a simple portfolio site. Proof the work can find buyers before scaling it.

Monthly — July

Finish and deliver the walnut dining table for the Alvarez family. Commission #1 of the three planned for the year.

Weekly — Jul 13–19

Sand and apply the first coat of finish to the tabletop. The step standing between the table and delivery.

Today — Wed

90 minutes in the garage: hand-sand the tabletop to 220 grit. One tap in the circle tracker.

Family

Vision — 2027

His kids describe him as someone who's around, not just present. Softer than the other two, still anchored to a year he'll check it against.

Yearly — 2026

Eat dinner together, no phones, at least five nights a week — and keep it up. One habit, measured consistently, over the whole year.

Monthly — July

Plan and take one full weekend day with no work and no woodshop. The one thing July tends to crowd out.

Weekly — Jul 13–19

Take the kids to the lake on Saturday — plan it Wednesday so it actually happens. This month's weekend day, put on the calendar.

Today — Wed

Send the lake day plan to the family group chat before dinner. One tap in the circle tracker.

Inside the app

What Owen actually sees

Four screens, built from the same threads above: his Today list, one area zoomed all the way in, the thread that connects it to a vision years out, and all three areas side by side.

Today

Owen's day, all three areas in one list. Each row carries its area's ring — showing how that thread is tracking this week — next to the one action due today. This is the real Today screen, running live off the fictional data below — check something off and the ring actually moves.

Detail

One area, zoomed all the way in. Owen picked Running — tap a pill to jump between the vision, this year, this month, this week, and today; the ring and everything below it updates for real.

9:41

Thread

The spine connecting one action to the vision it serves. Owen followed Woodshop's thread here — five points, one line, running from tonight's sanding back to a business that pays for itself. Tap "+ details" on any level to expand it.

Bird's Eye

All three of Owen's areas at once, each with its own color and its own progress bar. No single area crowds out the others — this is the screen for checking whether life as a whole is moving, not just one thread of it.

These four panels run the app's real screen components client-side against a fictional dataset — nothing here talks to a server.

Every trailblazer starts here.

Your threads will look nothing like Owen's. That's the point — every area, vision, and color is yours to define.
